Types of Services Provided by Rally

In collaboration with the family courts of San Francisco, Marin and San Mateo counties, Rally serves separated, divorced and never-married parents and their children when contact with each other is either difficult or not possible due to restraining orders.

Rally ensures that children have a safe, healthy environment for parental transfers and that noncustodial parents have access to their children through supervised visitation services. All services include written reports, which are sent to the court and may be sent to parents upon request. Services are delivered for a fee using a sliding scale based on each parent's income. Generally, the court determines whether fees are paid by one parent or both.

The specific type of visitation service is determined by the court and scheduled by Rally as capacity allows. Depending on the case, the court may order additional services for parents or children (beyond those provided by Rally).

Rally’s services may include:

  • Monitored exchanges. Rally provides a neutral third-party site for the safe transfer of children between parents whose contact with each other has been difficult. The visiting parent picks up the child or children for off-site unsupervised time and later returns the child or children to Rally.
  • Supervised visitation. This enables noncustodial (visiting) parents to spend time with their child or children, usually an hour or longer, in the presence of a neutral third party. Supervised visitation at Rally serves as an alternative to unsupervised visits when the court has sufficient concern for the safety of the child or children.
  • Bookend visits. This combines a supervised visit and a monitored exchange. The visiting parent is supervised on-site at Rally for a period of time before being allowed to go off-site for unsupervised time with the child.
  • Facilitated supervised visitation. The visit takes place at Rally with interventions to support and strengthen relationships. These visits are usually for parents and children who haven’t seen each other for a long period (and require reintroduction) or who have never met.
  • Therapeutic sessions. The visit takes place at Rally in the presence of a licensed therapist, usually for one hour or longer.
  • Off-site supervised visitation. The visiting parent takes the child or children out of the visitation center, accompanied by a trained staff member, for a minimum of two hours. These visits may not be available at all sites and are allowed only for cases considered to be very low risk.
