Below, you’ll find a sample bill from Dignity Health, along with a breakdown of the information it contains. If you need more help understanding your bill, please visit our FAQ page or contact our online business office.
When you receive your bill, here’s what you'll see:
- Statement date. The date your statement was sent to you.
- WID number. If you call us with questions about your account, please provide this number.
- Total charges. The full cost of the service or services you received.
- Insurance payments and adjustments. The total amount paid by your insurance company on your behalf, including any discounts negotiated between the hospital and insurance company.
- Your payments and discounts. Total payments you have already made toward the service or services, including any discounts.
- Billing questions. If you have questions about your bill, please give us a call at the customer service number listed.
- Amount due upon receipt. Your remaining balance after subtracting insurance adjustments and past payments from the total charges. This amount should be paid by the due date listed near the bottom of your bill.
- Ways to pay. Options for paying your bill, such as online, by phone or by mail.
- Amount owed. This number, equal to the amount due upon receipt, is your balance for the service or services after insurance adjustments and past payments were subtracted from the total charges.
- Facility name and mailing address. If mailing a check, make it payable to the facility name listed here and send it to the associated mailing address.
- Financial Assistance Policy. See the reverse side of your bill for details on Dignity Health’s Financial Assistance Policy.
- Additional accounts. If you have more than one account at this facility, all your accounts will be listed here.
Notice to patients: UCSF Health welcomed Saint Francis and St. Mary’s hospitals to our health care system on August 1, 2024.
