Radiology Services

Advanced Radiology Services

Computed Axial Tomography (CT) scan - UCSF Health Saint Francis Hospital currently offers the only 160-slice CT scanning services in San Francisco. This ultra-fast, 3D, state-of-the-art system delivers the lowest radiology dose possible, while capturing cross-sectional internal body images in minute detail.

Low-dose Coronary CT Angiogram - allows radiologists and cardiologists to examine the coronary arteries and the heart in 3D in a non-invasive manner.

Nuclear Medicine - uses small amounts of radioactive material to diagnose and determine the severity of a variety of diseases, offering the potential to identify disease in its earliest stages.

Radiology Screening Services

Low-dose Calcium Scoring - this basic heart screening study evaluates your risk for coronary artery disease. It detects the amount of calcium in the walls of vessels and calculates "calcium score." A high score for your age group is statistically associated with increased risk of coronary events in the future.

Low-dose Lung Cancer Screening - using low-dose CT scanning as a screening methodology for high-risk current and former smokers, smaller cancers can be detected earlier when more treatment options are available. This service is now covered by Medicare.

Mammography - digital mammography offers superior images with high definition. Because they are viewed on a computer, areas can be enlarged for closer investigation and more accurate diagnostic readings.

DEXA Bone Density Screening - the dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) screening for osteoporosis is completely painless and delivers minimal radiation exposure while accurately measuring bone density.
