Our CyberKnife facility serves patients from both UCSF Health Saint Francis Hospital and UCSF Health St. Mary's Hospital.
What Is CyberKnife?
CyberKnife is a noninvasive alternative to surgery for the treatment of both cancerous and noncancerous tumors nearly anywhere in the body, including the brain.
This advanced technology delivers a specialized form of radiation therapy called stereotactic radiosurgery, or stereotactic body radiation therapy. It is comprised of a compact linear accelerator, a machine that generates a radiation beam, attached to a highly maneuverable robotic arm. It's an outpatient treatment, completely painless, and extremely accurate.
The CyberKnife features a device that controls the width of the radiation beams delivered during treatment, allowing our clinical experts to vary the beam size and treat a larger variety of tumors throughout the body including brain tumors, lung cancer, and prostate cancer.
